Big Piney High School presents a minstrel show directed by Miss Lola M Windsor at Hook Hall on Lincoln’s Birthday Friday February 12 beginning 8 15 pm The 14 member cast promises strong entertainment Proceeds fund travel for students to Laramie for upcoming contests A dance will follow the show priced at one dollar
The Casper Automotive Dealers Association announces the 1926 Casper Automotive Show to be held February 15 to 18. It is billed as the largest show in the state with ample entertainment and a display of all new American-made car models. Also reported, Midwest Oil Co plans dismantling in the Dry Piney field, tearing down camp buildings and moving them to another site.
Leon Iowa Jan 25 The Leon friends of T T Beck were shocked Sunday by his death at home in Grand River A pioneer citizen he helped shape Decatur county s progress He attended Sunday school earlier that day and died shortly after returning home He was uncle of Oscar Beck and the last survivor of the original Beck family in Iowa Funeral attendees included Mr and Mrs Oscar Beck
Notice declares the annual meeting of Big Piney Mercantile Company stockholders at the company office on February 15, 1926 for officer election and other business.
The annual Dog Derby at Pine Dale will be held this year on February 21 and 22. Many good dog teams are training for the event, and there will be other winter sports also carried on during the two days. The public is invited to attend.
A town notice announces a public meeting at Town Hall on Sunday afternoon February 7 at 2:00 for organizing a volunteer fire department. All men interested are urged to attend. J T Bailey mayor and Geo Moffat town clerk oversee the call.
Tuesday marked Ground Hog Day with a bright sunrise as the shadow appeared clearly. Despite the mild conditions, forecasters say the pleasant weather continues to hold.
Budd Apperson, a Mason visitor, was in town last week. Mrs. Ira Bailey remains homebound with the flu. Mrs. A P Sommers officiates at the telephone office. Mrs. J Herschler returned Monday from Fontenelle where she kept house for her son Ned Herschler, who with his wife has been in Salt Lake for medical treatment.
Nellie Revell, famed for humor and human insight, announced to write a new column of laughter and human appeal for the Examiner. Her four year hospital battle and broad public support are cited as part of the appeal.
Mr and Mrs Fr A Fear visited their two grandsons who are sick with the flu. The Misses Lola Windsor and Ruth Pereboom spent the weekend at the John Budd home in Meadow Canyon.
Regular meeting notes present Mayor Bailey and four councilmen with Griggs absent. Minutes approved. Bills listed include Hopkins printing 3.00 Big Piney Garage 175.00 and Moffat salary 20.00. Motion to publish notice to form a city fire department and to discontinue the curfew bell. Meeting adjourned. Attest George Moffat Mayor.
Mr. Ennis Miller left for Rock Springs via Opal as the 10.ds from Pinedale to Rock Springs remain rough after recent snows. Mrs. Dunham at Rock Springs reports Clevelin improving from intestinal flu. Families from Big Piney spent Sunday with the Jewett couple on their lower Cottonwood ranch. Miss Collins spent the week at Big Piney for eye treatment. Mr. Gibbs visited friends on Cottonwood. T. D. O'Neil departed for Laramie and other points last week.
William King of Hillmont wintering in Ogden with sister Mrs Etherwine and family arrived yesterday in his Ford. He told an Examiner reporter the road was good for the season and noted six inches of snow on the Cumberland flat between Kemmerer and Evanston. Ogden had about a foot of new snow.
Pittsburgh officials announce the Carnegie Hero Fund commission’s twenty second session awarding bronze medals to twenty nine individuals, fourteen of whom died in the deeds. Dependents receive pensions totaling 10140 dollars yearly, with six awards totaling 9600 dollars for education. One bronze medal goes to the widow of M Columbus Sisco who died while aiding in an effort to rescue Harry A Bohrer in Quinton Oklahoma on August 11, 1924.
The Casper Tribune releases a state wide industrial edition timed for Lincoln's Birthday week. Miss LaVina Manning, teacher for grades five and six, has been ill with flu, with Mrs L D Tanner substituting in her absence.
Questions received by mail on any phase of Agriculture and Home-making will be answered at the same hour on the same dates. Listings for February 28 to March 4 include talks by O N Summers, Albert M Day, W P Mortenson, Luella Sherman, W L Quayle, F J Kohn, and Wilhelmina Jacobson. Mr and Mrs Frank Ball Jr of Cottonwood were Piney visitors yesterday.
