The Sublette County Cutter races plus skijoring dog racing and dancing are planned in Pinedale for Saturday and Sunday February 4 and 5. Big and local teams from Big Piney Pinedale Boulder and Daniel are expected to compete in the annual event.
Sterling K. Peterson outlines social security rules for self employed farmers, noting eligibility after earning at least 400 dollars in each of 1955 and 1956, with various age and retirement implications. L S Anderson of Fall Creek Lumber and J Mills and L Mills of Mills Lumber Co visited Kemmerer Jan 27 28 to pick sites for sawmills. They bid for about 723 million and 19 million board feet from Gypsum Creek areas and aim to start construction by March 1 with production expected before July 1. The plants will sit on Twin Creek Fork of Willow Creek about four miles north of Kemmerer and each mill about 50 000 board feet daily with re saws.
The Wyoming Travel Commission introduces Cowpony Joe, an animated semi human likeness of the bucking license plate horse, to accompany its advertising campaigns. Manager Willard Marfin says the character will complement the silhouette and appear in national layouts and promotional materials.
Dr. H. D. Knapp reports Sublette County did not reach its 1955 Christmas Seal Sale quota amid changing tuberculosis control. He recalls uncertainty about past TB case numbers and notes the disease once meant near certain death for families.
The Punchers basketball team lost 4-37 to Hanna on the trip, then fell 47-39 at Saratoga after leading late, before a easy win at Baggs. Second-string player Dave Vickrey scored the most baskets. two more games were scheduled.
