Pioneer Frank A Fear Dies in Big Piney at 86

Frank A Fear, longtime livestock trader and teacher, died December 17 1950 in Pee Moronal hospital Ogden Utah after a lingering illness. Born November 4 1864 in Dyersville Iowa he lived in Grand River and Big Piney Wyoming. Survived by wife Jessie A Fear son Clifton four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren plus a sister and brother. Funeral services conducted by Rev A G Burndy with Masonic rites. interment Big Piney cemetery.

Salad Bridge parties hosted by Ball and Scherbel families

Mrs. Frank D Ball and Mrs. Paul Scherbel entertained guests at salad bridge events on December 7 and 16 at Ball home. Winners included Mrs. Kelly Wison first and Mrs. S E Carier second with Mrs. Robert Thompson low on December 14, and on December 11 Mrs. Philip Marinere won high with Mrs. Robert Diegerman second and Mrs. Frank Chapel Tow as winner.

Birthday Party for Mary Budd at Ranch Home

Mary Budd daughter of Mr and Mrs Joe Budd celebrated her seventh birthday at the ranch home on Sunday December 17 with a group of invited guests. Santa Claus to Visit Gaiety Theatre Big Piney

December 23 marks a big day for local children with a free all cartoon show at the Gaiety Theatre starting at 2:00 p.m. Santa Claus will arrive during the afternoon to greet the kids, and residents are urged to bring the youngsters to the event.

Christmas vacation dates set for Big Piney schools

Big Piney grade and high schools begin Christmas break on Friday December 22 with classes resuming January 2 1951. Teachers plan travels to Indiana California Wyoming and Star Valley while several others stay local for holiday events and community programs at the high school and in town.

Handel Messiah Presented by Big Piney High School Girls Chorus

The Gaiety Theatre last night hosted a successful Handel Messiah performance by the Big Piney High School girls chorus directed by William E. Allen and accompanied by Lora Berry Beck. The girls, in pastel gowns with lit candles, received loud applause as they marched to the stage. The program featured processional Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, Christmas carols, and Messiah selections from I Comfort Ye My People to Hallelujah Chorus, with solos by Margie Whitman, Sally Budd, and Sally Noble among many chorus members. Angels Loretta Diebler and Jackin McWilliams appeared, and the event included other carols and choruses from The Messiah and The Meestah.

Members of the Happy Homemakers Club held a Christmas tea on Sunday, December 17, in honor of Barnetta Nelson whose room improvement project won first place in the state. Bernetta spoke about her National 4 H convention trip in Chicago. University of Wyoming Band Heads to Gator Bowl

Maile Ray of Big Piney among 80 University of Wyoming marching band members boarding a special train from Laramie on December 28 for the Gator Bowl in Florida. The group will perform in several cities, play before the game, and return January 4, funded by local business contributions. The band features 40 percent women and 4090 man hours of prep under conductor Holsar Lewis.
