Power Shovel Accident Fatal at Northwest Compressor Site
Richard Claude Morten 34 assistant superintendent and field engineer for Fish Northwest Construction died after being crushed by a power shovel at a compressor station 20 miles southwest. The Green River native slipped on the shovel platform during sewer trench work and was fatally injured, reportedly saying I fell into your machine. Undersheriff Bill Carr led the investigation. Pomeral services were held at St John's Episcopal Church in Green River for Horton.

Marine on leave dies in Wyoming crash near Pinedale
Robert W. Daniels eighteen of Tinedale home on thirty six day leave from the Marine Base at San Diego Calif died from skull fractures and chest injuries suffered when the car he rode in crashed into a log truck Saturday night nine point seven miles west of Pinedale on Highway 187. The driver Melvin Davis twenty and his sister Margie aged sixteen were hospitalized in Rock Springs. Police report the car rammed the tractor, breaking the truck coupling and tipping the vehicle. Funeral services with full military honors were held in Pinedale with burial in Big Piney cemetery.
