Ammonium Sulphate Yields Studied On Mountain Meadow
A 1956 field study at Joe Budd ranch tested ammonium sulfate at 40 80 and 1000 pounds per acre on gravelly meadow soils with intermittent and continuous irrigation. Yields ranged from 2.2 to 3.0 tons per acre with best results at 80 pounds applying, while residual effects were limited. Continuous water reduced nitrogen benefits due to leaching. overall, 50 pounds per acre emerges as a suggested rate under proper water management. Jam A Fosher, Work Unit Conservationist.
