Antelope hunting grows as Wyoming herds rebound
The Wyoming elk and antelope scene expands after near extinction. Herds rose from about 5000 in 1904 to 46275 this year, with 29315 antelope killed last year and quotas set for September to October hunts. Lester Bagley notes economic benefit of hunting and wide distribution of permits. Residents face $25 tag, $5 license, and lodging crowded conditions at Marbleton and Big Piney.
