Edwin Luce Gored by Stallion at Ranch Near Green River

Edwin Luce a 13 year old son of Mr and Mrs W W Luce was kicked by a stallion while tying the animal at their Green River ranch. The left eye area suffered a severe fracture and an eight inch wound required eleven stitches. He remained conscious after being carried indoors and has shown bravery. He was brought to town last Sunday for treatment and is improving.

Local Red Cross Notes Rally Cloth for Soldiers

The Red Cross notes commend the women volunteers who are sewing garments for soldiers. Mrs. Margaret R. Fish sent ten ready to ship bed shirts, Mrs. Emma Sisco made fifteen pairs of socks and one sweater, Miss Boyer contributed four bed shirts, and Mrs. Dr. Hook took ten bed shirts to make. Nearly all the ladies are working to prepare the next shipment.

Lincoln County coroner hopeful E L Thomas announces candidacy

E L Thomas of Kemmerer Wyoming declares his run for Lincoln County Coroner in the Republican primaries. He urges voter support and notes his long residency and qualifications. A separate notice mentions the Chicago Fur Hide and Wool Co man visiting Piney Aug 17 to buy junk with stamps.

War Emergency Thresher's Report Issued for County Farmers

The government orders threshers to file monthly wheat and other cereal threshed reports. Each thresher will receive a record book to track grain types, amounts, acreage, and threshing charges for farmers. County agents will distribute books and compile monthly county totals to telegraph to Washington by the fifth of each month.

Mr. Maughan asks others with threshers to write for a record. Grain threshed in this section will be mostly oats barley and some rye. Monthly reports are unnecessary. a report to the county agent at season end will suffice.

The next Liberty Loan drive will launch on September 28 and close on October 19. A three week interval separates the opening day from the conclusion.

Lincoln County Urged to Enlist 25000 Nurses Reserve

Government calls 25 000 young women to enroll in the United States Nurse Reserve. Women aged nineteen to thirty five may enroll to train as nurses or enter Army Nursing School programs. Options include readiness until April 1 1919 or civilian and military paths with spots filled as vacancies arise. The drive seeks to meet Army needs of about 26000 graduate nurses by January.
