Solon G Murdock Dies Aged 35 In Big Piney Area

Solon G Murdock aged 35 died suddenly on the operating table at Jackson hospital after an operation for a ruptured appendix. He was a Big Piney rancher and son of Mrs Mary A Murdock, survived by his wife Carrie and four children. Funeral held at St Anne's with Father Cyril Kmelowsky officiating, interment in Big Piney cemetery. mortician Francis W Tanner in charge.

University of Wyoming Coach Serving Navy Post

Lieut Randall D Watkins, assistant professor of physical education for men at the University of Wyoming, is on leave for Navy service and currently leads basketball at the United States Pre-Flight School in Athens Georgia. Born in 1907 at Trenton Texas, he studied at North Texas State Teachers College (1925-29) earning a B S in physical education. While coaching Fairview High School in Thrift Texas he attended USC summers, earning a Masters in 1994 and completing a year beyond toward a Ph D.

University health chief to join Boeing staff

Dr. Ray Ballard director of the University of Wyoming student health service leaves Laramie for Seal Beach Washington to join Boeing Aircraft Company medical staff. Dr. Winifred Ingersoll will act as director during Ballard’s absence. The university health service has grown values of about 50 000 in 1942 75 000 in 1943 and 125 000 in the just past year serving army and navy personnel here.

The War Dept released to the Examiner a censored report praising Joseph B. Chrisman for capturing 400 Germans in France. It also discusses professor Beall’s warning about poison plants harming livestock, listing Wyoming Experiment Station bulletins and a Wyoming war time conference on price relations and full employment scheduled in Laramie with state and national officials attending.

OPA Office in Pinedale to Close Wednesdays and Fridays

Mrs. Jack Denton, clerk in the OPA Office at Pinedale, announces the office will be closed every Wednesday and Friday afternoon. The ruling aims to give clerks time to issue gas cane, food and unlid certificates. Applications by mail will be sent on request along with advice on board action.

Senator Jensen Takes a Bride

Senator James B. Jensen and Mrs. May Hicks quietly wed in Randolph Utah. A justice of the peace united them on July 20 as friends gathered at their home near the Mule Shoe ranch east of town. The couple, well known residents, will reside at their recently acquired ranch and share congratulations with locally known citizens.

Wyoming War Loan Purchases Hit Quota Milestone

Wyoming Fif th War Loan purchases rose to 17 419 400 dollars near 103 percent of quota with late July figures showing individuals at 83 percent and corporations oversubscribed by 12 percent. A. Wilde of the Wyoming War Finance committee noted the final state totals may rise further in the Fed report.

Sargent Inn Becomes Host for July Afternoon Meeting

Arb group meeting at Sargent Inn Thursday July 27 featured luncheon hosted by Mrs. Ausent Richwardson. Presiding officer Mrs. Norman Barlow, with acting secretary Mrs. May Sommers, discussed hospitalized members and heard program notes by Mrs. Lory Jeweth and Mr. E Clark. Miss Walker wowed with poems and movie pictures, followed by local society notes and schoolyard stories.
