Oregon Trail Trek Planned August 10 11 by Wyoming group
The Wyoming Pioneer Association plans a two day Oregon Trail trek led by Clark Bishop Albert Sims and Joe Bagley. The caravan departs South Pass City August 10 at 8 am camps Green River near Big Piney Sunday 4 30 pm and resumes Monday 8 am arriving near the Lander road marker north of where the road enters Highway 1399 four miles northeast of Big Piney. Paul Scherbel will discuss the road to Lander Basin and why travel is not advised. The trek ends at Salt Creek Horse Creek near the Stump Creek Ranger Station in Idaho.

Died Monday O W Norris of Chhoudrant Louisiana
O W Norris of Chhoudrant Louisiana died Monday evening July 29 at Big Piney Lake after a heart attack while hunting fishing in the Big Piney area. He and wife Mrs Norris had visited the Murdock ranch and were accompanied by Mr and Mrs O L Schmitz. Funeral services were planned for Saturday.

Infant Ostercamp Graveside Services Held
Graveside services were held Tuesday in Big Piney cemetery for the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Wille Ostercamp. The baby was born Monday at Jackson and died shortly after. Mrs. C. A. Fear Jr and daughter Pauline are vacationing in Lava Hot Springs this week.

State fishing report highlights Wyoming streams and lakes
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department released a statewide fishing report. Green River fishing is good on float trips below Warren Bridge while Big Sandy sees improving brook trout fishing as waters drop. High lakes show some improvement and Big Piney streams stay tough but smaller streams fish well. Roads in Pinedale and Big Piney areas are in good shape and streams near Pinedale are clearing with rising angling.

Hay Harvest Office Opens in Pinedale for Ranchers Needs
The Hay Harvest Office opens to help local ranchers secure qualified workers for the coming season. Charles D. Passey of the Rock Springs Office of the Wyoming State Employment Service announces the location across from the Pinedale Post Office and hours from 8 AM to 5 PM weekdays and 8 AM to noon Saturdays. The office operated July 20 to August 23, 1957, and calls to Pinedale 6071 are invited.

Mrs Nellie Friz ze of Kemmerer hosted her annual picnic at her summer home in Middle Piney on Sunday July 24. About 100 people from nearby communities attended. Visiting were her brother Earl Forrester of Oneyenne and her son and daughter in law Mr and Mrs Edwin Friel of California.

County HOA News Highlights Home Economics Judging
Jacke Mc Williams and Pat Chapel placed high in their classes at the second home economics judging contest held in Pinedale. In the senior division Jackie took last, Dianne Fear was second, Connie Yose third. Junior winner Pat, with Caroline Boroff second and Lynda Fear third, judged lamps, cake, hems, and blouse selections for school and dressy wear. Senior winners will be named for Sale Farr and juniors receive trophies enacted by Sublette County homemakers.

County 4 H club held its first livestock judging practice at Joe Budd ranch in Big Piney with 14 members judging two classes of Hereford bulls and giving reasons. Dick Tanner led, Mary Budd second, J R Evemild tied with Nancy Budd for third. Upcoming judging set for August 1 at Mic Piney.
