Governor Joseph M. Carey proclaims May 1 1914 as Arbor Day in Wyoming. The document urges statewide tree and shrub planting, notes a goal of one million trees, and calls on people and committees to foster reforestation efforts nationwide.
The governor of Wyoming calls upon all schools and state, county, and city officers to participate in Arbor Day tree and shrub plantings. Emphasis on school activities to teach youth about the importance of tree planting. Witnessed with the state seal at the Capitol Cheyenne on April 4, 1914. Signed by Governor Joseph M. Carey and Secretary Frank L. Houx.
The open martin at the 20th Century Club hosted by Mr and Mrs Mickelson featured decoration and lively antics. Attendees included Mr MacGla shan, Cyrus Pish, John Bud ead, T D ONeil, Al Oxtirhout, and many others with music, recitations, and dancing lasting till early morning.
Governor Wyoming backs a plan endorsed by Congress to create two regional banks, arguing the west needs capital locally to avoid panics like 1907. He cites the desire for a Denver or Salt Lake bank and critics the West’s dependence on eastern funds.
The Big Piney baseball team practiced Sunday on ground presented by F D Chapel. They show a strong start despite rough, hard ground and expect to improve with scrapers. Marbleton Republican editor O E Delait visited the Examiner last Monday. A barber moved his stand to better serve customers.
