State Recipient Assistance Hike Announces Public Aid Increase
Augusta Maine announces a statewide increase in public assistance totaling more than 13 500 monthly from 1 to 30 dollars starting with October checks affecting the aged blind and disabled AFD C recipients with Social Security benefits will see changes due to higher Social Security payments and ARDC reductions. The Bureau raises maintenance items to 130 dollars and boosts the Aid to the Aged Blind and Disabled from 115 to 130 per month. Some 700 800 recipients will see decreases or closures while about 300 have no change. Individual railroad retirement or VA beneficiaries will be contacted about the effects in coming weeks.

OOB Lions Open Fall Meeting At Cascades In Saco
OOB Lions Club held its first fall meeting at the Cascades on Portland Road in Saco. King Lion Charles Barnes Sr. presided as Secretary Sumner Johnson reported on committee activities including sponsoring three children to a Salvation Army Camp and a $50 gift for a girl’s Europe music festival trip. Past King Lion Patrick Capaniro led a successful Maine Placemats sale with 125 boxes sold. District Gov. William Crane urged club goals for 41 L and noted contests among 33 clubs. Deputy DG John E Gray and five Kittery Lions attended. Next meeting is Sept 28 at the Cascades.
