Strike Looms Affects East Coast Ports In NY Labor Action

AP reports little chance to avert a Sunday midnight ILA strike. Ports from Brownsville Texas to Searsport Maine would be hit. ILA president Capt William V Bradley said pledges came from NMU Seafarers International Union and Marine Engineers Beneficial Association not to cross picket lines. Federal mediators said a new three year contract with the New York Shipping Association appeared unlikely before current terms end. The unions traditionally practice no contract no work.

Kennedy Praises Free Market in Washington talk

Five Area Students Named National Merit Semifinalists
