Commemorative Coin Approved in Kennebunk
The Kennebunk selectmen approved a 150th anniversary commemorative bronze coin designed by Ann Packard and Carlos Cartarano. Giant African snails invade Miami area in vast infestation
North Miami's Miami Shores area is overrun by fist sized giant African snails estimated at up to 20 000 in a 13 block zone. Officials led by Florida Agriculture Department administrators say the mollusks threaten cash crops by feeding on foliage and calcium and even paint. The infestation, introduced three years ago by a returning Hawaii tripper, is considered unique in the United States.
