South Portland. The Air National Guard at 50 Western Avenue has openings for young men without prior military service to enter on four months of active duty for training. Enlistees attend six weeks of USAF Basic Military Training at Lackland AFB Texas and then receive field training at South Portland ANG Station for the remaining period. Afterward they drill one weekend a month and a 15-day annual period.
