Chicago Takes Doubleheader From Boston

The White Sox swept a two-night doubleheader 8-3 and 4-3, with Gary Peters going the distance in the nightcap for his 19th win. Pete Ward belted his 21st and 22nd homers, and Joe Cunningham delivered a bases loaded pinch single in the ninth for the win. Boston’s Dick Radatz faltered in relief as Chicago never trailed in game one and pulled ahead late in game two. Roman Mejias, Chuck Schilling, and Carl Yastrzemski were notable for the Red Sox. The Sox next play Minnesota, while Ward and Peters lead Chicago’s charge.
