Explosion In Schoolyard Kills Six
In Houston a man detonated a suitcase bomb at Edgar Allan Poe Elementary School killing six people including seven year old William Hawes Jr and Dusty Orgeron the attackers son. The blast also killed teacher Jennie Kolter custodian James Montgomery and student John Fitch Jr while injuring many others and prompting investigations.

Letarte Pleads Not Guilty To Local Arson Charge
Joseph Raoul Letarte pleaded not guilty in York County Superior Court at Alfred to arson for a June 22 fire at Mrs. Anna Dumont’s Biddeford dwelling. Prosecutor Marcel A. Viger presented six witnesses, including Dumont who identified Letarte, and Norman Moulton who described seeing a man lighting shingles with matches and warning him as he reported the blaze.

Heavy rains yesterday afternoon sparked two three car crashes in Saco injuring two people and causing property damage estimated over 600 dollars. Roy Perkins Jr of Wells treated for a four inch forehead gash after one crash and Joseph Anton of Brooklyn N Y complained of arm pains after another. The first collision occurred at 2 30 PM near the Dyer Library on Main Street as Kendrick Woodworth and Russell Bridges halted for traffic when Frederick Hicks of Portland struck Bridges rear.

Arson Blast Destroys Biddeford Filling Station Office
An explosion ripped through the office of a Biddeford filling station at 43 Elm Street early this morning. State Fire Inspector Lawrence Dolby and Biddeford Fire Chief Arthur King said arson caused the blast after an incendiary attempt the night before. Clyde W. Gerry, 67, narrowly escaped death as the force lifted the building and hurled a display of car batteries outside. Police and fire officials have few clues, with gasoline odors reported and a full investigation promised.
