MacDonald Identified As South Berwick Bank Robber

Alfred Joseph R. MacDonald, 32, of Rochester, New Hampshire, was identified by a bank teller as one of two men who robbed the South Berwick branch of the First National Bank of Biddeford on July 9. Testimony in York County Superior Court described the robbery and a later murder of State Trooper Charles C. Black, with MacDonald on trial and an alleged accomplice already convicted and jailed for life. The trial featured vivid accounts from tellers and a lineup identification, with about 40 witnesses anticipated.

Notre Dame Church Fills For Msgr Dube Funeral Rites

Funeral services for Rt Rev Msgr Arthur J Dube 53 chief judge of Portland diocese church court and Notre Dame de Lourdes pastor in Saco since 1960 were held at Notre Dame Church. The solemn high mass was led by Rt Rev Msgr William Cunneen with a large priestly entourage and a full choir. Many clergy from Maine and nearby states attended and a eulogy was delivered by Very Rev Rosario Ouellette.
