Biddeford Textile Advances Waste Treatment Timeline
Biddeford Textile, after choosing Biddeford as its site, was told by the State Environmental Improvement Commission to fix its waste issues by October 1973. Vice President Rene W. Boisvert said the firm is ahead of schedule engineering and building a system to collect and pump sanitary and process waste to the municipal plant. Sanitary waste is already pumped to the Biddeford treatment plant for river discharge after treatment, and process-waste work is 60 percent complete with completion expected within two months.
