Nuclear Blast Is Success
The United States detonated a low yield nuclear device above the Pacific Friday night visible as a faint lightning type flash on Oahu and Kauai. The blast, less than 20 000 tons of TNT, compared to Hiroshima 1945, was hindered by cloud cover. Johnston Island used a standard sergeant motor rocket to 20 30 miles altitude and achieved success. The next shot is slated Tuesday night or Wednesday morning using a Thor Hercules rocket to 20 30 miles with detonation time between 9 30 p m HST and 2 30 a m HST. The device will be submegaton, under one million tons of TNT. The third and final high altitude explosion will use a Thor booster. Further air drops unclear.
