Symptoms Of Recession Are Growing

Washington AP President Ford pursues anti inflation fixes as recession signals intensify. Real GDP fell for the third straight quarter despite an 8.3 percent rise in nominal GDP to 1,114.6 billion. Inflation eroded 11.5 percent of dollar value, leaving output down 2.9 percent real terms. Burns and others label the slump a recession and debate causes and policy. NEECO Pipeline May Be Reduced From 48 To 24

NEECO may cut the Westbrook to Sanford crude oil line from 48 inches to 24 inches by using a Westbrook pumping station and 46 acre tank farm. The plan relies on Portland Harbor unloading and slower pumping to the refinery. FOIL opposes the project as a regional refinery and port expansion. The council approved wetlands permit as part of initial approvals.
