Paralytic wins one million in railroad injury suit
Pat Burke, 21, paralyzed from the neck down in a railroad accident, won a $1 million settlement from Milwaukee Road in Minneapolis federal court. The award is cited as the largest personal injury payout in Minnesota and a major railroad case. Burke and his wife plan a trout farm dream. he spent eight months at Mayo Clinic after the November incident near Waterville, Iowa, and the settlement is tax free.
