Nation's economic woes linger with grain talks and jobs rise
Executives of two major grain exporters were summoned to meet President Ford over the decision to hold up 125 million bushels of grain to the Soviet Union. Unemployment rose to 5.8 percent in September, with 440 thousand people added to the jobless rolls, bringing total unemployed to 5.3 million. Saudi Arabia and Iran pledged not to cut production to sustain prices if demand falls.
