Pre-Columbian City Found on Mexican Island
Harvard and the University of Arizona report a single San Gervasio site on Cozumel, about 250 acres with over 200 building ruins. The find reclassifies four center settlements and may illuminate Classic Maya trade and Toltec influence prior to 900 A.D. The expedition led by Jeremy Sabloff and William Rathje worked February through winter to study pottery and stone-wall fields.
