Kent to resign as town manager after eight months

Christopher Kent plans to resign as town manager of Old Orchard Beach after eight months in office. Council chairman E Emer son Cummings and several councilors declined to comment while Kent himself offered no remark. FBI probes $55,000 disappearance after bank cash sack

FBI continues to investigate the theft of 55000 in cash from a sealed canvas sack delivered to a South Side bank. The sack was ordered by LaSalle National Bank for Beverly Bank and stored overnight by Purolator Inc. The loss was discovered Saturday morning when the sack seal was broken and newspapers cut to dollar-size sheets were found.

Women earned more in 1956, if they worked

Washington reports the wage gap between men and women widened since 1955. Labor Department figures in constant dollars show working men earned 1,911 dollars more than women in 1955 and 3,433 dollars more in 1974. The rise is attributed to more women obtaining higher paying jobs.
