Escaped Mental Patient Caught Near Ogdensburg
Gu y Patterson, 33, an escaped patient who claimed to seek permission to go to Russia, was captured near Redwood, about 35 miles southwest of Ogdensburg. Police tied him to threats against President Kennedy and New York Governor Rockefeller and noted his reading list on communism. Meanwhile five other patients escaped Rockland State Hospital and forced an attendant to drive them to New York City. Patterson had previously been arrested in Plattsburgh and said he attended the University of Kentucky.
