Beirut based AP report says Haile Selassie, 82, may be executed within two days after being moved from Addis Ababa detention to a nearby town. The Ethiopian junta, which last weekend executed 60 aristocrats, faces Western appeals via L'Orient-Le Jour and Mohsen Slim to save his life. UN chief Waldheim urged restraint for humanitarian reasons as Ethiopians react to the executions. Asfa Wossen condemned the actions as a mockery of justice.

New England Energy Company officials were unsure how Senate action on a federal loan guarantees bill might affect the Sanford refinery plan.
