Webber Hospital Plans $3 Daily Rate Increase

The Associated Press reports a sharp rise in Thanksgiving traffic deaths with 206 fatalities during the 102 hour weekend. Congo Rebels Strike Back as Stanleyville Falls

Government troops push across the Congo River toward rebel held Stanleyville where snipers fire as 59 foreigners, including three Americans, have been killed since the U S Belgian airborne operation began. Paratroopers rescued about 1,600 white hostages in Stanleyville and Paulis, with 170 foreigners brought out by Belgian forces and U S C 130s. A embassy spokesman said evacuation of Stanleyville refugees was complete, while five Americans remained in rebel zones alongside other nationals missing in the north.

Tragic Sea Collision Sinks Tanker Off New Jersey

The Norwegian tanker Stolt Dagali and Israeli liner Shalom collided eighteen miles off the New Jersey coast in dense fog on Thanksgiving Day. Ninety passengers and crew watched as lifeboats, swamped sections, and a partially submerged stern marked the scene. Twenty four of the tanker’s 43 crew were saved. thirteen bodies were recovered as search efforts ended at sunset with six mariners still missing. The Shalom carried 1,076 aboard and sustained no serious injuries.
