The Enterprise, a nuclear powered aircraft carrier, will join the U S 7th Fleet to back daily air raids against North Viet Nam. B52s aided an allied push in the Vo Dat Valley near Saigon as South Vietnamese irregulars killed 22 Viet Cong near Ban Me Thout. The 7th Fleet destroyed targets across the region.

Court Opens Hearings On Getting Negroes On Juries

A three judge federal court opens a hearing in Montgomery on a suit to expand Negro participation on Lowndes County juries. The suit by local residents, the Justice Department, and the Episcopal Society for Cultural and Racial Unity cites racial discrimination and seeks to end exclusion of Blacks from juries in the county amid recent civil rights killings.

Priceless ancient works stolen from Vatican library

Gilbert R. Boucher of 12 Taylor St Biddeford declares his bid for Ward 7 on the Biddeford City Council as an independent Democrat. The 40 year old contractor and WWII veteran has served on the council and now holds civil defense and building inspector roles. McNamara Arrives in London for Talks

Maine Supreme Court Upholds Jalbert Indictment

Fire gutted home on Jordan School Road

Eight youths sitting in a station wagon stole into the scene as firefighters battled a smoky blaze that gutted the interior of a home on Jordan School Road. The incident occurred early this morning and drew responders from the Auburn area.
