Biddeford city council session included minutes dispute over deleting and restoring words from a motion about a resignation. Mayor Dutremble wore glasses as a mild joke. Berube resigned citing pay. council accepted Oct 19. Loranger replaces Berube as housing inspector only.

The Warren Bowdoin case in Portland nears closing as a defense witness clashes with Kennebunk Police Chief Frank Stevens over forged prescriptions for morphine and dilaudid. Bowdoin faces 44 counts for allegedly filling illegal prescriptions from 1973 to 1974.
In Old Orchard Beach, Pleasantwood Estates will offer 20 senior apartments on Saco Avenue with May completion. Contractors Frageau & Mokarzel Associates report rent subsidies via the Maine State Housing Authority, tenants pay 25 percent of income, and 16 one bedroom plus 4 two bedroom units are planned.
Biddeford Saco and Old Orchard Beach officials met with Arnold Leavitt of the Department of Transportation to study continuing the bus route until May. Richard Stride, owner, may shut the service December 3 unless funding is found. options include ceasing service, subsidizing, leasing or renting buses, and apportioning costs among the three communities.
