Off Street Parking Plan Moves Forward In Biddeford

Merchants at a dinner unanimously approve an expanded off street parking concept behind Bagley’s Market on Main Street. Plans call for widened, drained lots with an attendant and shared costs based on a 60 to 75 car capacity to boost downtown traffic flow and turn over shoppers.

Christmas Club Payout Totals Pinpoint Local Banks

Five banks in Biddeford Saco Old Orchard Beach and Kennebunk began paying a total of 601,370.03 in Christmas club checks this week down from 617,166.83 last year. Pepperell Trust leads with 180,204.99 to 2,200 accounts, followed by Saco and Biddeford Savings with 130,503.79 to 1,767 accounts. York County Savings pays 104,023.75 to 1,379 and Kennebunk Savings 84,837.50 to 1,100.

Lamontagne to not seek re election as Saco alderman

Lamontagne Ward 6 alderman in Saco announces at a Republican Ward meeting that he will not run in the municipal election on December 14. He has served four terms for Wards 3 and 6 and chaired the City Council under Mayor Peter A. Garland. He cites desire to devote full time to his business and thanks supporters.
