The Soviet Union unveiled three new missiles and an older orbital rocket during a large parade for the Bolshevik Revolution anniversary. An invulnerable moving intercontinental missile was shown, with an estimated range of 1,500 to 5,000 miles, signaling a revised Iron Maiden design.
President Johnson flew to San Marcos Texas to sign a sweeping education bill that will fund 140,000 more college students next year with federal aid. The event tied to Johnson’s alma mater Southwest Texas State College where he earned his degree in 1930. The bill's scale and impact frame the campaign to expand higher education nationwide.
US pilots report blasting a missile site 60 miles east of Hanoi as part of a sixth strike in two days. In South Viet Nam paratroopers of the 173rd Airborne clash with a Viet Cong main force in D Zone near the iron triangle, with 110 enemy killed. Five US planes were lost over the weekend. five fliers rescued and six listed as missing.
