Horse and Courageous Ride End in Window Crash

Walter Hill and sister Anne Hill chased a frightened horse after it bolted from a wagon into Cousens Fancy Goods window in Biddeford. Anne steadied the reins while Walter clung to the bridle as the horse sped along Washington Street. E.C. Luques intervened to help calm the animal. both riders escaped injury, though the horse and window suffered damage.

Judge Rules For Bird In Custody Case King Koncho

Jackson County District Judge Paul E Vardeman ruled for the plaintiff in a 1973 custody case over a myna named King Koncho. Early bought the bird in 1970 in Japan and claimed ownership after finding it in Noah's Pet Store in April. The judge noted the bird testified via evidence such as photos of King Koncho with the Early family and vocabulary lists, and concluded the bird should be returned to the Earlys.
