Getty to continue buying stocks if prices stay down

Hearings on Motions Delayed for Deschambault and Binette

Maine Supreme Court will not hear motions to dismiss three of six indictments against Biddeford Mayor Clement H. Deschambault and City Clerk Ralph Binette until September at the earliest. Atty. Charles W. Smith said appeals were filed challenging denials by York County Superior Court Justice William S. Silsby of demurrers to dismiss the three indictments. Deschambault pleads innocent to two other charges, Binette to one. Trial date remains June 26 unless continued. Smith seeks particulars for fraudulent conversion charges. Silsby ordered June 6 deadline.

Memorial Day Traffic Toll Near One Day Record

Memorial Day holiday traffic and related deaths totaled 97 highway fatalities by midnight Wednesday, with possible final toll near the 109 one day record set in 1956. Drowning, boating, and miscellaneous deaths raised the overall count to about 166, led by California and New York.

New Industry Opens in Biddeford Plant

Hugh Marshall announced Atlantic Precision Products Inc starting operations in the former Saco Lowell buildings in Biddeford.
