Boyies Notebook Jewison One Of New Breed
Norman Jewison, 41, dubbed the boy director, is part of a new breed of producer directors reshaping Hollywood. He argues art and economics can co exist and champions individualism over corporate control while pointing to The Thomas Crown Affair as an example of blending thrills with substance. He rose from taxi driving to TV scripting in Canada, built fame in Britain, and produced hits before directing The Cincinnati Kid The Russians Are Coming The Heat of the Night winning five Oscars.
