Tax cuts urged after Vietnam war by Fowler at Springs meeting
Secretary of the Treasury Henry H. Fowler told about 100 industrial leaders at Hot Springs Virginia that the administration will seek major tax reductions after the Vietnam war to sustain growth. He cited Johnson’s broad peace planning and noted a $6 billion rise in Vietnam spending for 1968, with possible deficits over $18 billion unless a tax surcharge is enacted.
