Nine Die In New England Weekend Accidents
The Associated Press reports nine deaths across New England from weekend accidents. Eight occurred on highways in Maine Massachusetts Rhode Island and Connecticut while an 83 year old woman died in a house fire in Old Town Maine. A Bates freshman Dale Hatch 18 of Bridgewater Massachusetts drowned while aiding classmate Stephen Quattropanni 19 of West Hartford Connecticut after they fell into surf at Phippsburg Maine. Hatch perished as a rescue chain failed in 44 mph waves. Quatropanni survived. Other fatalities included Clarence Parker 41 of Oxford Massachusetts in a motorcycle crash. Edward Farrell 43 of Salisbury Massachusetts in a crash into a utility pole. Elizabeth Brady 50 of Roslindale Boston killed by a hit and run in Roxbury. Dorothy Dudley 83 of Old Town Maine burned in a fire. three youths in Central Falls Rhode Island Eugene Lysacowski 21 Daniel Carrignan 19 and Robert Gallagher 18 all in a car crash. Leroy Robarge 64 of Middletown Connecticut killed crossing a street.
