A group of hijackers seized an Avianca Boeing 727 on a Pereira to Bogota flight and forced it to divert to Cali. They demanded 300000 dollars for 92 passengers and crew and threatened to go to Cuba, while Colombia declined to negotiate.
In Tavares Florida Charles O Neall spread three tons of sewage sludge on his lawn hoping for lush grass and instead grew about 40 000 tomato plants. His wife notes four or five watermelon and pumpkin vines. The plants are two feet high and ready to harvest in two weeks. O Neall says tomato seeds pass through sewage undigested leaving the plants to come from people.
The House Judiciary Committee plans to subpoena another Watergate tape this spring to probe whether Nixon knew in advance of the plan to bug Democratic headquarters. The April 4, 1972 meeting included Nixon, Haldeman, and Mitchell.
