Farm Bill Veto Testing House Override Plans
House sponsors plan to seek an override of President Ford's veto on a one year emergency farm bill. If veto stands committees will abandon higher supports for 1975 crops and focus on a longer term bill with foreign aid and food stamp revisions. The measure would raise target prices for corn wheat and cotton and increase milk price supports. Ford warned he would raise production loan rates if crop prices deteriorate. Death by own action becomes second only to accidents as a leading cause of death for youths 15 to 24.
