Death of Kennebunk resident Ray Gordon at 69

Ray L Gordon 69 died at his Brown Street home after a life as a local caretaker and World War II veteran. He is survived by widow Maybelle, son Wesley, four daughters, three brothers, two sisters, eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Funeral services set for 2 p.m. Monday at Bibber Memorial Chapel with Rev C Joseph Ingraham officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call tonight 7–9 and tomorrow 2–4 and 1–2.

Records Unearthed Of Topeka Dog Licenses

Topeka City Clerk Bill Douglass discovered ancient dog license records in City Hall archives. The earliest license dated May 23, 1867, was issued to an English bull terrier named Scooter. Also found were an old stage coach line insurance policy and a gall map negative of Topeka.

Missing electric saw reported by Saco resident

Mrs. John Hansen of 7 Lincoln Street Saco says an electric saw kept in a shed on her property vanished last Thursday and the loss is under investigation by police. The report lists the saw as missing and notes ongoing inquiries by Saco authorities.

Candidates Must File by Next Wednesday for Primary Ballots

About 425 candidates have filed for the June 15 primary in Maine, with roughly 300 Republicans and the remainder Democrats. The State Election Division says another 200 or so must file petitions to qualify, and no papers received after midnight April 1 will be accepted in Augusta.
