Furniss Overcomes 1975 Swim Setback and Bounces Back
Bruce Furniss, world record holder in 200 meter events, speaks of a 1975 relay disqualification in Cali that cost gold and a world record. He recovered quickly after the meet and remains a key USC swimmer as NCAA championships approach with strong showings in the 200 medley and other events. The article notes a tense 500 yard freestyle duel between John Naber and Tim Shaw, with Daland praising both and indicating events at Brown and other venues.
