Former Marine Makes His Own Artificial Leg
Gordon Paris a 43 year old Korean War veteran built his own artificial left leg after amputation. He molded a foot from nylon stockings and plastic using a plaster cast, then laminated layers and baked it in a homemade oven. Paris plans to continue research in limb design and has already crafted a leg for a local physical therapist. He also carries a backup custom right foot. Meanwhile Stratford Ontario selects Martha Henry for major Shakespeare Festival roles next season.
