AP reports orders for The Torch Is Passed memorial book on JFK death total 3,091,000 with weekly adds over 100,000. Western Printing in Poughkeepsie and Racine produced copies for 735 papers in the United States and Canada plus private requests. The 100 page volume features color portraits of JFK and Jackie and a 35 000 word narrative by four AP writers led by Saul Pett. Deliveries reach 2,768,000 with no bookstore distribution and continued production as demand persists.

New Elementary School Proposed For Biddeford

The Sewell report to Biddeford Planning Board recommends a 20 room elementary school to ease overcrowding, plus a new athletic plant and modernization of Emery School.
