President Nixon told the House Judiciary Committee he will furnish all material already turned over to the Watergate grand jury without limitation and offered to provide further cooperation as requested. The remarks highlighted his intent to fully comply amid ongoing investigations.
President Nixon will hold a nationally televised news conference at 7 30 p m EDT today, the White House announced.
James D. St. Clair, White House Watergate lawyer, announced the White House will not offer a recommendation on the sealed grand jury report. The panel, delivered to Judge Sirica with an indictment of seven Nixon aides, is said to be 1/2 to 2 pages and about grand jury findings on the President’s role. The hearing drew 300 spectators and included Haldeman Ehrlichman counsel John J Wilson challenging grand jury authority.
