Seven earn MU Distinguished Service in Journalism awards

The Maine Times is among seven winners of the University of Missouri Distinguished Service in Journalism awards. High School Student Critical After Friday Night Crash

Susan Powers, a sophomore at Old Orchard Beach High, remains in critical condition with head injuries at Maine Medical Center. The accident occurred when the car driven by her date Dwight McLeod, a junior, left Milliken Mills Road near the Scarborough line after leaving a Winter Carnival dance. McLeod was treated and released. Powers is 16, daughter of Frederick and Mrs. Powers.

Nixon Returns From China Trip Under Mixed Praise

Former President Richard Nixon returns to California from an eight day China visit praised by hosts yet criticized at home.
