Armed Robber Hits Pool Street Market

Mrs Grover operated the Bi Wis market at Pool and Clifford streets when a small young man entered at 10 40 am and robbed the store of about 100 dollars. The suspect wore a red wool hat and light yellow brown coat. He threatened with a pistol described as possibly a .32 or .38. Police continued the search as reports tied a man seen nearby to the holdup.

Wilson Holds Lead In British Elections

In a British general election update from London AP reports Harold Wilson and Labor leading in returns, yet projections show Labor short of a House of Commons majority. With 442 seats tallied, Labor 255, Conservatives 177, Liberals 5, and others 5. Projections from BBC and ITV vary but all expect Labor short of a majority, keeping potential for a minority government.

Gibbs Brings Preliminary Plans To DEP Augusta

About a dozen men from across the United States gathered at Henry Warren of the DEP to hear Gibbs Oil Co outline a 250000 barrel per day Sanford refinery plan. Warren praised Gibbs for engaging opposition and using Portland Harbor access, while noting Maine’s caution toward VLCCs. The briefing covered refinery configuration pipelines and the Portland Harbor pier with a conversion type design, no coker, and water plans from Biddeford-Saco Water Co and Estes Lake plus a hot dry cooling system and waste disposal to Fore River.

Motel Complex Plans Trigger Ocean Park Wetlands Conflict

McCallum mobile home park expansion facing ruling

After nearly two years of dispute among McCallum the town and utility firms the planning board will decide on his plan to add 87 lots bringing the park to about 400 sites The board scheduled a work session site inspection and a decision within three weeks Randall Smith for McCallum said he had supplied or would furnish all requested items and the project would be rural in zone assignments and maps were discussed to guide the review

Park plans seek 100 amp service and new pole splits

McCallum seeks upgrading mobile home park electrical service from 60 to 100 amps with each unit fed by a separate pole. New England Telephone had refused service in 1972 due to subdivision violations but town intervention last summer granted service in the approved park section. Fire hydrants and street markers would be added. soil erosion and sediment control pose the main hurdle. A soil test delay may lead to alternate erosion assessment methods. A planning board work session is set to review the proposal with new members Hiowe Barstow and chairman Geyer.

Sewage Location Studied Near Goose Rocks Beach

A federal spokesman warned a planned tertiary sewage plant at Goose Rocks Beach may conflict with future Rachel arson Wildlife Preserve land purchases. Realty specialist Donald Chase noted a two year study and a 308.5 acre federal hold with plans to buy 343.5 more by 1976, mostly west of Dike Road.
