Five Marines Die in Chu Lai Search Sweep in Viet Nam

A Marine spokesman said five U S Marines were killed and six wounded during a day-long search sweep in the Chu Lai area 53 miles south of Da Nang. Fourteen Viet Cong were killed and 43 suspects were captured as part of the operation. The unofficial US death toll reached 440 since December 1961.

Subway Toll Of Injured Reaches 130

BERLIN AP A subway train plowed into the rear of another near West Berlin today injuring 130 with no deaths reported. It was Berlin s worst subway accident since 1908 when 17 were killed and 21 injured. The crash occurred about 300 yards from Zoo Station, the busiest downtown hub. Unofficial reports said one train stalled in the tunnel when the collision occurred.

Youth Found Safe After Casco Bay Dive

A 17 year old, Paul W. Holman, was found on Upper Goose Island after falling from a punt in Casco Bay. He swam to the island while en route to harvest sea moss and was located by searchers on Tuesday.
