Babashoff Dominates Olympic Swim Trials In Long Beach
Shirley Babashoff leads the USA at the Long Beach trials as she eyes seven events at Montreal. The 19 year old from Fountain Valley set American records and tops the 100 free, with teammates Jill Sterkel Kim Peyton and Wendy Bogliolli rounding out the sprint relay. Final night actions could seal Babashoff spots in the 100 200 400 and 800 free diverse events along with medleys. Joe Bottom and Jack Babashoff among new team additions.
