Kennebunkport officials report a tri town sanitary district plans a concrete proposal for DEP approval and EPA funding this fall. The regional plan centers on a $200000 solid waste shredder plus three 40 foot trailers and a tractor to move material to town sites. Survivor recalls last Indian massacre tale in Nevada
Yakima Washington AP. Mary Jo Estep 75 learns she is among the last survivors of a 1911 massacre of Shoshone Indians in northern Nevada. Author Dayton Hyde spent years researching a novel The Last Free Man and traced her family from Twin Falls Idaho to Winnemucca Nevada. The family endured a brutal chase across Nevada Territory, near Winnemucca, ending in a deadly attack. Estep was adopted after surviving tuberculosis deaths. she had long kept silent about the massacre and later learned details through Hyde's work.
