Fiddlers Claim Fiddle Versus Violin Debates at Weiser Festival
In Weiser Idaho the National Oldtime Fiddlers Festival draws 278 contestants and 2500 fans to the town near the Oregon border. Players debate whether a fiddle is a fiddle or violin with judges weighing music quality over strict naming. Fiddlers aged 7 to 80 compete across five divisions as finalists are set to be named Saturday night at the local high school.
