Castle Closes Portsmouth Naval Prison After 76 Years
Portsmouth Navy prison known as the Castle closes after 76 years of service as two inmates leave Friday marking the final era. Light Vote Predicted For Tuesday In Maine Primary
State election officials forecast a light turnout for Tuesday's statewide primary. Deputy Secretary of State Peter M. Damborg said Democrat ballots total 216,675 and Republican 258,075, with corresponding absentee ballots of 37,900 and 41,495. He expects under 200,000 of Maine's 575,000 registered voters to cast ballots. The ballot features six Democrats and four Republicans for governor, plus various races and a new district attorney contest.
